ADULT AQUATIC FITNESS CLASSES
Aquatic Fitness Classes Free to all Full-Privilege Members
Aquacise
A high intensity cardiovascular fitness water aerobic class to tone, tighten, and trim your body. We’ll exercise in the shallow end so swimmers and non swimmers can participate. Class includes use of barbells and noodles to enhance your total body workout.

Aqua Jog
A deep water workout that utilizes swim belts. A great way to tone your whole body in a warm, relaxing environment. This workout puts no stress on the joints.

Swimnastics
Come join our upbeat water aerobic class utilizing water resistant barbells to enhance you arm, leg, abdominal muscles. Held in the shallow end of the pool, A great workout for swimmers and non-swimmers.

T.N.T
Deep water exercise class focusing on abs, thighs, and buttocks. A fun class that targets those “trouble spots” Swim belts are utilized.

Adult Swim Instruction
Learn how to swim or refine your strokes. All levels are welcomed!

SWIM LESSONS
There are no provisions for the makeup of missed classes, unless the class is cancelled by thye YMCA. The Aquatic Department reserves the right to: cancel or postpone any program due to low enrollment or unforeseen facility schedule changes. Specific class instructor cannot be guaranteed.
Parent & Child Swim Lessons
Parent & Child Swim Class (6months-3years old)
This Parent & Child Swim class is beginner water experience with the parent, and will teach beginning swimming and safety skills. The class will be an excellent bonding experience with parent and child.
Preschool Swim Lessons
Preschool Swim Lessons
(3-5 years old) Children learn the fundamentals of swimming with emphasis on personal safety and developing strength, endurance and coordination. Children are placed into small groups according to their ability.
Perch Plus Intermediate (2 1/2–3 1/2 Years) Children learn to propel themselves in the water with parent assisting for the first 5 weeks.

Perch Plus Advance (3–5 Years) The Perch Plus Advance class is for the child that may not be ready for the Pike class but is able to be with the parent for the first 2 weeks. Child will learn to swim with a flotation device.

Pike (3–5 Years) Without parent, child must swim width of the pool with a flotation without assistance.

Eels (3-5 Years) Child must swim on front & back 15ft. without flotation. Class includes stroke skills and introductions to treading water.

Ray (3-5 Years) Child must swim half length of pool on front & back without floatation. Class includes rotary breathing and stroke skills.
Progressive Swim Lessons
The progressive Swim Program provides children 6 - 15 years of age with the opportunity to learn water skills and water safety. The ultimate goal of the YMCA Progressive Swimming Program is to develop the whole person physically, mentally and spiritually. We strive to make swimming a lifetime fitness sport and important life skill. There are no make-ups for missed classes.

Polliwog (6-12 Years) For beginner swimmers. No previous water experience. Class includes: floating on front and back, paddle stroke, and water safety. 
Guppy (6-12 Years) Child must be able to swim half length of pool front crawl with face in water and half of length of pool on their back. Class includes front crawl, rotary breathing, back stroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke.
Minnow (6-12 Years) Child must be able to swim 1 length front crawl with rotary breathing, 1 length each of backstroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke. 
Fish (6-14 Years) Child must be able to swim 2 lengths/50yds of the folowing strokes: front crawl with rotary breathing, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Class includes: stroke development and endurance. 
Flying Fish (6-14 Years) Child must be able to swim 4 lengths/100yds of each of the five strokes: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke. Class includes: stroke development, endurance, lifesaving skills (May meet with Shark/Porpoise class due to low enrollment).
Shark/Porpoise Child must be able to swim 100yds of all strokes as well as 50 yards of butterfly, and diving skills off blocks. Class includes: swim team preparation, stroke refinement, lifesaving skills, and endurance.
Private and Semi Private Lessons
Open to all ages! Learn to swim at your own schedule!

AQUATIC SAFETY STANDARDS
Late Spring session only
Do you need to brush up on your competeive strokes? Come join the Ambler Area YMCA Stingrays swim team coaching staff. Intermediate Group must be able to swim 1 lap of Freestyle and Backtroke. Advanced Group must be able to swim 100 yards of Freestyle with flip turns, 100 yards of Backstroke, 50 yards of Breastroke, and 50 yards Butterfly.
