A Whole Lifestyle for the Whole Family
Childhood obesity is a serious health issue that is contributing to an increased prevalence of diabetes, asthma, and Hypertension in children. Since the 1970’s, the percentage of children ages 6-11 classified as obese has tripled. If left untreated, these children have a 79%chance of becoming overweight or obese adults with health complications associated with poor diet and exercise habits.
The YMCA of the Philadelphia & Vicinity H.I.P KIDS Program will identify the environmental, behavioral, dietary and physical activity factors that contribute to the child’s condition. Our professionals will then offer education and support that leads to a healthier lifestyle for the whole family.
